Madrid has become a focus for hotel investment, especially in the luxury sector and, therefore, every hotel or emblematic building for sale attracts the attention of some of the most important companies in the world.
Now, the struggle could be concentrated in the InterContinental Hotel, located on the Paseo de la Castellana, since its owners Katara Hospitality, a hotel company controlled by the sovereign fund of Qatar, are willing to listen to offers.
Although the 300-room hotel is not officially for sale, there are already interested buyers willing to pay a price above 350 million euros.
The hotel was built on an 18th century palace and was inaugurated in 1953. After passing through different owners, in 2014 Katara Hospitality took over paying 70 million. This same fund has been made with the Savoy and the Connaught in London (United Kingdom) and with the Plaza Hotel in New York (USA) for which he recently disbursed 512 million.
