The hotel chain of Barcelona origin Eurostars grows in Alicante. The firm belonging to the Hotusa group has closed the purchase of the ABBA Centrum hotel, which had been negotiating since last September. The amount of the transaction has not transpired at the moment.
The intention of the chain, as it has been known, is to reopen next January as Eurostars Centrum, so the intervention to be applied to the building is minimal. In fact, the website of the hotel chain already supports reservations for the new hotel in the center of Alicante starting next month. According to sources familiar with the operation, the Hotusa group banner will subject the building to a thorough review to get it ready, and will continue to operate without carrying out, at least for the time being, any reform.
With this acquisition, Eurostars grows in Alicante with a checkbook and adds its third four-star establishment in the Alicante capital. To date, the chain operates the Eurostars Lucentum, in the former headquarters of the former Bank of Alicante on Avenida de Alfonso X el Sabio, opposite the Mercado Central, and the Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (next to the headquarters) of the Provincial Court). In all cases, Eurostars hotels are four-star establishments and a range of mid-range prices, in modern buildings and emblematic urban sites.
The new hotel will be the second with the largest capacity of how many operates the Hotusa brand in the capital of Alicante, with 148 rooms. The new acquisition of the Catalan chain, however, is one of the reference hotels for business tourism and urban breaks in the center of the capital, in the vicinity of the Seneca square. In all probability, it will become the new flagship of the chain in the city, while other operations crystallize. For now, the prices of rooms in this establishment are somewhat higher than the other two.
As already unveiled at the time, the ABBA Centrum will not be, with much probability, the latest acquisition of the chain in Alicante. The Hotusa group is accustomed to grow by purchase, and in recent months it has closed several acquisitions (the last operation, three establishments in Andalusia that opened last November). The chain has more than 100 hotels in fifty destinations, all of them mid-high range and, in general, in unique buildings. The hotel branch of the group is completed with Exe Hotels (60 establishments in Europe and Latin America) and Ikonik Hotels. Apart from its own establishments, the group has about 300 establishments associated with its division of holographic representation throughout the world.
In the case of Alicante, and in parallel to the negotiation with the ABBA Centrum, the chain of Catalan origin surveyed the market also in the area of San Juan beach in the Alicante capital, although in this case the operation has not yet set . In this area, as you may have known, the hotel that would best adapt to Hotusa’s pretensions is the Alicante Golf, but for now there have been no advances.
